Motorola Moto G battery life test

Motorola Moto G battery life test

Motorola Moto G is surely one of the most commented smartphones this holiday season. It’s a quad-core device with a big 4.5″ IPS HD display, pure Android experience and amazing price tag.
We are now about to see how the Moto G’s 2,070 mAh battery holds up against its display and chipset. In theory it should provide you with much better endurance than the uninspiring Moto X, due to its lower-power chipset and slightly smaller screen.
Our first test has always been all about 3G calls. The Moto G lasted 19 minutes short of 14 hours of continuous call to another number. That’s about right given the battery size and the fact that the display doesn’t take part here.

Talk time

  • Sony Xperia Z126:53
  • BlackBerry Q514:31
  • Huawei Ascend P614:17
  • Oppo Find 514:17
  • Google Nexus 414:17
  • Motorola Moto X14:06
  • Motorola Moto G13:41

  • HTC One X+13:31
  • Nokia Lumia 52013:33
  • Sony Xperia C13:29
  • Samsung Galaxy S4 mini13:10
  • Pantech Burst4:46
Next we put the Motorola Moto G through our web browsing stress routine. Its battery died after 9 hours, which is among the better results we’ve encountered so far. Surely the low-powered Cortex-A7 processor helped here.

Web browsing

  • Sony Xperia C12:45
  • LG G Flex9:31
  • Motorola RAZR MAXX (ICS)9:12
  • Apple iPad mini9:05
  • Apple iPhone 5c9:05
  • Oppo N19:05
  • Motorola Moto G9:04

  • Samsung Galaxy S4 zoom8:51
  • Samsung Galaxy Note II N71008:48
  • BlackBerry Q108:42
  • Samsung Galaxy Nexus3:01
Unfortunately the video playback turned out the weak link in the Motorola Moto G performance. The phone lasted 6 hours and 37 minutes before its battery drained down to 10%. It is still more than the Nexus 5, but it seems Google definitely has to tweak its default video player.

Video playback

  • LG G Flex19:57
  • Huawei Ascend P66:55
  • Samsung Galaxy Ace 36:54
  • HTC Desire 600 dual sim6:49
  • Nokia Lumia 7206:43
  • Huawei MediaPad 7 Vogue6:40
  • Motorola Moto G6:37
  • Meizu MX 4-core6:33

  • Nokia Lumia 6256:29
  • HTC Windows Phone 8X6:27
  • Sony Xperia E dual6:27
  • Nokia Lumia 7103:27
Motorola Moto G has provided us with great stand-by efficient and that’s why Moto G’s final endurance rating is 54 hours, meaning it will last for more than two full days if you do an hour of calls, an hour of video watching and an hour of web browsing each day.
